Hey guys, I've run Gentoo headless servers for over 3 years now. I've ran across a couple notes on the web for ISPConfig on Gentoo. Has anyone in here got a good control panel setup on Gentoo? I don't need a cp at all, but now that my biz is growing, it would make life much easier on me. I just got done installing ISPConfig on CentOS 5 x86_64 and it seems pretty fast etc. But no other servers can even get close to my benchmarks on mysql insert etc on my custom build stage1 Gentoo boxes. I cut 100,000 row insert on a monster wamp by 48% faster and 75% faster on Gentoo x86_64 . I double all the BSD's with no problem so I'm stuck on Gentoo but no Panels like CPanel are in the makes for Gentoo... So let me know if any of you guys have any success at a good cp for Gentoo. Thanks, RD
If you're looking for something to help you with your administrative tasks, it might be a good idea to hire someone on to write scripts for some of your more common tasks. Sometimes the bloat / problems associated with a control panel like cPanel aren't work it, when a simple perl / bash script can make life so much easier. Also, there's not going to a be drop-in replacement control panel for your Gentoo setup, since most control panels have a certain style for how they segregate Apache vhost configs, bind/named configurations, etc. Cheers.
Great Idea! I'm pretty good with php programming But I have never did any perl/bash etc. This is a great idea though. The scripts could do a complete domain addition with the goodies I have to offer etc. Thanks again, ~RD
There's a lot of buzz surrounding http://www.domain-dashboard.com/ which can handle from what I hear a boat load of domains as long as the web host provider offers CPanel.
