Isnt it possible to get someone banned in adsense?

Hi lets say A and B are enemies.

B knows A's site, and that he uses adsense, but he doesnt know the PUBID of A.

B hires goons to run bots on A's site clicking all the adsense ads several hundreds of times a day.

Then it violates Adsense TOS and A's adsense account gets blocked.

Isnt this possible? What is the protection for A?

All that you can really do is keep an eye on your reports, you can review your site's traffic logs for suspicious activity, if you find any activity that is out of the ordinary, then you should report it to Google right away.

Things may go out of hand and none can have a full control over their own sites when it comes to suspicious clicks but if you find anything unnatural, all that we can do is just send a report to google. But be an optimist and always think in a positive manner. Google knows the problems of its publishers.

The only protection (until now as Google requests YOUR proof), is to keep an exaustive IP records about the origine of those clicks, in order to show them (google) that it was not manipulated by you, but by an external source.

On the other hand, Google is not that incomprehensive as it sounds on certain forums and complains here and there; my personal experience (from the first days an adsense publisher, having seen a lot of what's discussed still today) - if your history (on adsense account) is serious, they contact you if there is a problem. I can understand them very well, with the millions of daily (stupid) requests (ignoring most of 'em).

Even with that there is no proof.
If goog wants to they will ban you or maybe even ban both....
I was always wondering what would happen if someone took someones elses pub id from the source code and then place it in either porn sites, or just got some bot to post in tons of forum posts....

if you are B, then i have to say shame on you for thinking this way. if you are A and feel threatened by your friendly enemy, then you monitor your adsense stats along with your server stats. your server stats will show where the clicks are coming from and how many. so if A notice anything suspicious with his adsenes clicks, all he needs to do is to notify adsense regarding click bombing providing the server stats as a proof and adsense will just remove the clicks form the record without banning the site. but if the site end up being banned by adsense, then A will need to appeal with the server stats

Which programs allow you to record the ip adresses of people visiting your site/ clicking your ads?

I use google analytics but I don't think it can be used for that purpose.

I am just presenting a sample scenario, I am neither A nor B. But this is a widely open loop hole, as there seems to be no protection outright, A has to have knowledge about server logs, and the server logs only show the URLs on your website, not the adsense URLs because they are included from javascript dynamically - very difficult to prove to Google.

There's not much you can do, my advice would be not to upset anyone especially if they know about your adsense website. But you could always appeal to google but that's a long ass process.

Nowadays I believe the system will immediately ignore subsequent clicks if it comes from the same ip.

Google is smart enough to know whether clicks are coming from the same ip address or c block.

It is possible to run a 'distributed bot' or dbot network, so the clicks come from different IPs spread across the world. Lets say the attacker has written a malware application or Firefox plugin that many people around the world are using, then that malware application can be set to send clicks to a particular Adsense site, without the browser user being aware of it. Such clicks cannot be detected using standard click fraud detection methods. You can prove YOUR server logs are showing normal activity, but anybody can copy the souce code javascript, and host it in another site on the same shared hosting provider, then its the same IP, and run the bots on it, and A will get banned. It is unlikely to happen, but the loophole still exist. Until Google changes the Javascript include code to NOT include PUBID

I hope google is smart enough to deal with such issues. Otherwise, it would have been very easy for competitors to ban other adsense accounts.

Add Google Analytics to your website, for extra protection.

Meaning, you have nothing to hide.
