i have heard a lot abt fradulent transactions when paypal is involved....how to verify the genuiness of the buyer ?

what is the best option when it comes to transaction medium??

i have also heard about escrow stuff but they charge minimum of around 25$ ,sedo charges 50$ which is really not worth when u r selling domains at a low rate....

any suggestions? any place where i can learn abt domaining?

There is no transaction medium that is completely safe from fraud. If you don't want to use an escrow service, you take your chances.

That said, PayPal is not bad if you take the usual precautions. i.e., Don't do business with somebody who is not verified. The dispute process is fairly effective and a legitimate (verified) seller will want to keep their account so they have a motivation to not generate disputed transactions.

You want $299 for lolrofl.info but you can't spring for $25 for escrow?

Excuse me for jumping on a soapbox here, but seems like everybody wants "free" stuff or really "cheap" stuff. The axiom you get what you pay for comes to mind.

Use escrow for high priced domains. For low priced domains paypal is your best friend. If you want to stay away from fraud, sell your domains to reputed members only. While selling to new members use other payment options, for more information there is a sticky thread in Domains section, read it

ok ..thanks ....i do have one more doubt...i saw in godaddy auctions and in few other auction sites as well that people sell domains for as low as 10-20 $...how is that gonna workout??? buying a domain and listing for auctions itself almost comes to that...what is the strategy??

    welcome to domaining
yes it is risky as you have to invest for 1 year registration in expectation that somebody is going to find this domain more valuable than the reg fee you paid and going to make you an offer
solution: 1) register good names 2) buy them as cheap as possible
medium: either forums with feedback system (for low $$ transactions) or escrows for high value transactions
the minumum selling price is $60 at sedo with a $10 fee if you list at fixed price I think

i dont buy names for resell, though i have a few that are now abandoned projects.

ive sold a few domains now at namecheap.com, (usually at $5, half of registration costs) but anything is better then nothing right?

The strategy is getting more people to buy domains through your own registry. I can set the domain price at HOSTNHUB to what ever price I want as its my registry. Not much sense selling at a loss, but some will do it to build a client base. Flipping domains for dimes can get you new customers that might buy other options available. Hosting, email accounts, etc.

Escrow is better for high priced domains, with lower value ones like yours you would need to do a careful PayPal transaction.

As people have mentioned use an escrow service especially for domain sales such as sedo or moniker for medium to high price sales. For lower priced domains you just have to take the risk I'm afraid. It's like all businesses, no place is free of fraud. Also maybe you should rethink your pricing. Not many people would pay $299 for lolrofl.info
