Wheather it is done by hanging, electric chair, gas chamber, stoning, etc. Afterall the person getting excuted will die whichever it is done.

by that logic then a drug dealer and a secretary are the same, they both get paid at the end of the day. All people die, so all death penalty must be no different than dying naturally. Do you see why your logic fails yet?

Look, a person who gets executed will be executed whichever method is used adn will die in each case. It makes no difference for the person being executed.

Stoning to death for adultery is pretty harsh, wouldn't you agree? Pedophiles, murders, terrorists...no problem with the death penalty. Lethal injection or electric chair would be more "humane."

Think about it. You meet a hot chick, you get busy, but your country has recently been taken over by islam and you now live under sharia law because you were a willing accomplice for many years and ignored the threat right under your nose.

Half a dozen ass hats with bad personal hygiene wearing robes and thick beards break into your home, take you into custody, present you to some whacko judge who believes he's working on behalf of allah and sentences you to death. Would you want to be buried up to your neck in the ground and have several dozen bipolar angry males chunking rocks at your head until you die a good half hour later, or would you prefer to lay down on a table, have a needle injected into your arm and fall to sleep and die?

But GTech, that's crazy, it will never happen? Don't be so sure:

Well, it depends how you are seeing that 'death' penalty. If your sole purpose is to kill that guy then all of them are same.

But the basic purpose of death penalty is not just to execute that person but to threaten others who might think of doing the same. So, all of these executions are different in this manner. Every penalty have different impact on others.
For example, I might see OK to be killed by heavy dose of sleeping pills, but even thinking of getting stoned might shiver me.

So, depends how you see the whole matter.

so you are saying a laser that destroys your brain immediately is the exact same as laying on the ground and having a steam roller roll over you starting at your feet and going up? don't think so sir.

well some are a lot more humane then others

Peoples outrage over stoning is usually because it is for such ridiculous minor things, like adultery

If people stoned murders and rapists people probably wouldn't care

Exactly, theres absolutely no difference between a lethal injection which is painless or if the guilty person had a little bit of his flesh cut away every day until death, even if it took months, is there?

I think this thread is designed to limit the impact of stonings;)

And even if being stoned was painless islamic countries still kill people for next to no reason sometimes.

My Opinion: All death penalties are bad. It doesnt serve any purpose.

But that doesnt mean I put Stoning and hanging/electrocution in the same plate.

If you dont see the difference then perhaps your mind hasnt evolved fully yet.

I agree death is death no matter how.

    But

In any civilized community death penalty has been given to really really serious crimes such as
    - Raping and killing a minor.
    - Killing another human for own profit.
These two are crime agaisnt humanity so death penalty is not un-just
(However I prefer to put the criminal in the jail for rest of his/her life rather executing him.)
While death by stoning cases include
    - adultery ?
    - Having premartial sex or sex outside of marriage?
    - Being raped by some pervert and failed to bring 4 male witnesses?
    - Falling in love with someone?
    - Talking one's own mind about a specific religion?
    Its retarded and barbaric.

In Any civilized community death penalty has been given to any criminal only after the thorough examination of his mental status and given a proper chance to present his side. While most of the cases of stoning doesnt involve mental checkup or anything.

In any civilized community death penalty has been proceeded in a lone chamber with a priest(based on religion of the criminal) and a doctor present there, without any humiliation of the criminal. While stoning has been carried mostly in public area and full humiliation of the so called criminal.

One is Civilized punishment of an intolerable Crime, other is simply barbaric, unjust for crime and stone age punishment.

I bet that if you were given a choice of death by lethal injection or death by fire you would make your mind up pretty soon which one you preferred.

When I go, I want to die fast without ANYONE watching. So believe me, to me dying is not just about going, but HOW you go.

    I don' think so.

May be you overlooked my previous post. We should see what is the 'purpose' of death penalty? If its just to eliminate that guy from the society, then any death penalty is fine. But according to Islam (at least what I understand) purpose of death (or any) penalty is to warn and (may be) threaten others from doing that crime.

I know in west culture, adultery is not taken as seriously as it is. Seriously answer me, would you like someone else (one or more men) to be your father other than the man your mother is married to?

In Islam, you are not stoned for adultery if you are unmarried (Islam have some other punishment for that, but not death). But if you are married and have a way to satisfy your sexual desire legally/ethically, then if you fall in adultery .. you should be stoned. Because:

    * No one wants to born as bastard, Do you?
    * No one wants his mother to sleep with one or more guys, Do you?
    * No one wants his wife to sleep with other people, Do you?
    * No one wants his would-be wife have been sleeping with every other guy in area, Do you?

Since no one (at least the ones I know) likes anything stated above, so its a must to keep the whole society away from adultery and punishing people for that is OK. I feel it same as death penalty to a murderer, terrorist, drug people etc.

you know what friend, i cannot blame you .. you were brought up in such society, where you gauge adultery less serious act.
I do not know much about Christianity, but I am pretty sure that adultery is not allowed in Christianity as well.

I am not Iranian, but Iranian society is way 'cleaner' than any western one. Though I do not have any source for this, but

    * I am sure a large percentage of girls remain virgin until their marriage unlike US where an average of 14 years old girl have had sex already.
    * Iran must have less percentage of bastards than US does.
    * Iran have way less percentage of abortions (its murder, btw) than US does.

So, the long term affects of adultery on the society are quite similar of any other bigger crime.
And stoning is to prevent that.

In a 'civilized society' the death penalty does not exist.

Seriously, where do you get your opinions from, qwest ? How were you educated ?
Do you not think that if someone sentences you to death, and the process of the murder would be firstly to cut your legs while you're awake, then stop the bleeding so you could come back to be conscious, cut your fingers and repeat, then cut your arms and repeat, your eyeballs, and your tongue and only THEN rip your head off with a knife.
Do you seriously think it doesn't MATTER if someone does this or simply put you to sleepy death, or any other 'unpainful' death ?
Something tells me that you WOULD mind.

perhaps you didn't notice but he was talking about methods of execution not the reason they are executed

actually that's not entirely true, these kind of executions sometimes go wrong:

Tell that to George Bush... wasn't he the Governor with the record for most executions authorised?
