Two women 'to be stoned for adultery' Two Sudanese women were sentenced to death by stoning for adultery after a trial in which they had no lawyer and which used Arabic, not their first language, the rights group Amnesty International said. North Sudan implements Islamic sharia law. “The women had no lawyer during their trial and were not able to defend themselves, as their first languages are those of their ethnic groups,†Amnesty said. Both women are from non-Arab tribes but the proceedings were in Arabic and no interpreter was provided, Amnesty said. Their trial took place in central AlGezira state. The male accused in ms Fadul's case was let off because there was not enough evidence against him. Another fine example from the Religion of Peace.
Can we get a pool going on who will be the first to say stoning is not in the quran, but conveniently ignore the hadiths and sharia law?
Sudan is not ruled by the sharia law now so this must be some group, war lords or some left overs from the last government. Hope the sudanese government will take action.
after reading this thread i relized that this is the type of situation that i prefer to fight the fanatic muslems the world can speak in one voice to condemn these kind of laws and try to force these govts to remove them, and prosecute these type of judges to the full extend of the law. i think that they would not put up much of a resistance and will do it the benefit is that the fanatics will lose their power over the average population. i bet that very soon [3-6 years] democracy will start to blossom and at that time it would need our support low cost good chance of success desired result what more can you ask for? add a little education and increase the chance of success
can some one point out the amnesty's article on this. i can't seem to find it? i became very intrested to follow up on this subject? http://web.amnesty.org/library/eng-2af/index
