http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=19227412&BRD=1304&PAG=461&dept_id=180486&rfi=6 It used to be that sort of thing would only be expected to be said in a Mosque. I guess Muslim leaders have gotten a bit bolder these days.
I would feel that religion should be separated from politics as much as possible. Muslims and Christian leaders etc should refrain from taking sides in the name of religion.
Calling for "Victory over those who disbelieve" is not an appropriate prayer to open a Government body. In this country, we have the right to not believe if we so chose and for someone to call for victory over those people is totally inappropriate. Please tell us all what "Victory over those who disbelieve" means?
Who gives a crap what it means it's not like it will effect the outcome of anything. It's also not hurting anyone in any way.
A pretty sad defense of the statements and your own post. I think you are not able to make up an explanation for those words.
I'm sure he was asking for spiritual victory over unbelievers. What it means depends on what face is talking. Christians ask God to save the unbelievers. Not for them to be conquered. Any sane human can see that technically they could mean the exact same thing. However, one uses a positive and clear message while the other uses an ambiguous negative message that could mean a military victory (ie death to the infidel). A sane person is going to use a clear positive message that cannot be contrued as asking for death or oppression to unbelievers. "the Great Satan" is always the US. Or is there another "the Great Satan" that Muslims are worried about? That's because he knows exactly what it means. I have a dream that one day a Muslim will be able to condemn a Muslim leader for saying stupid things. In the mean time, Hamas will continue to be democratically elected. This is why Muslims are confused when people don't like them. That's like a KKK member going around accusing people of being KKKaphobic because people shun them for what they believe and say. Statements made by the cleric are why people don't like Muslims. It doesn't make Muslims look like they want to talk over the world, it verifies that Muslims want to dominate the world. Statements like that only hurt Muslims. But they're too ignorant to see that because they think that statements like that are perfectly okay. If I thought that killing puppies was okay you should be afraid of me. If you think calling for victory over unbelievers is okay then you deserve to be shunned. It's a stupid thing to believe. But, you already knew that. You were just hoping deflection would actually work. Just like anyone who doesn't vote for Obama is racist and anyone who doesn't vote for Hillary is sexist.
