[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, sans-serif][SIZE=-1]"Do what you want with her" The men of the village had pronounced their sentence that afternoon, though neither Shakoor, nor anyone else in the family, was ever questioned. But Mai's father didn't question the decision -- he merely ordered his eldest daughter to get ready. As many as 150 men were waiting for Mai at the Mastoi farm. The light of a petroleum lamp hanging above their heads revealed that many of the men were carrying guns. The woman they saw approaching was stocky and round-faced -- May had been married for seven years by that time, but she had yet to give her husband a single child. The men in the village, of course, were aware of this. Mai, they figured, was probably barren and good for little more than working as a laborer. old news, that happenend in one of allies countries, we picked some great allies in the war on "terror"
Did you read the whole story? Their govt backed off only because it turned into an international case. Blame whom? Where/how do such medieval societies draw their spiritual food and at the other hand have nukes? We do not know even the tip of the iceberg of whatelse happens in those societies, whether its Pakistan, Iran etc.. Even in the cartoon war, Pakistans ministry of public health is boycoting the countries in the EU now and plan some further actions.
No YOU dont even know the tip of the iceberg. Most of these societies have survived for thousands of years. Dont be afriad of things you dont understand.
Christianity in Question Priests sexually abuses little boys in church........ These people are animals and need to be stopped.
Do you? if so, tell us more. Looks like it is you that is afraid and as ferret77 posted its an ally of the USA. We all also know that it was the CIA that made it possible that this country could obtain nukes. Kahn was allready arrested in the Netherlands and under trial when the CIA did everything to get him out, saying, to observe him further.
Yeah, DA! Please explain Islam, Pakistan and "muslims" in as much detail as possible. But keep it under 500 words....I don't read so good. Actually, can you just let me know if you think each is "good" or "bad"? Thanks, Rob
I've stated my opinions in other posts and I'm not going to repeat it here. The main thing is, I don't hate the people but the spirits behind them. Read the Quran and make yourself an opinion. Pakistans govt(mushaf personally) has said that it would not hand over Bin Laden even if he stays in Pakistan - out of fear of the people. Nice excuses. More and more muslim states especially the radicals intimating Pakistan, because it has nukes, using their common religion in the negotiation to gain favour to create a worldwide Kalifat (with bin ladens advice) - so would that be good or bad? Now its your turn
It is sad, but how many times has this happened in non Islamic countries? You can't blame all muslims for what one group did. Christians have done bad stuff to.
Just because something survives for thousands of years, doesn't make it right. Women were treated as second class citizens for millions of years by men, it doesn't make it right.
From the article you quoted: "According to an age-old custom that predates Islam itself, women, the guardians of life, are required to apologize on behalf of their families for injustices committed by other members of their families."
