I did some research on google but didnt get very far, I know that WMV doesnt naturally play this file type but as there are other players such as VLC I was wondering if its possible to have some kind of built-in player inside the web page.
Anybody know any info about this?

    Thanks in advance.

Nope. Never heard of any browser supporting mkv files. Not even sure there are a browser plugin for it.

The only alternative you have is configure your browser to launch an external app (like VLC) if you click on a link with an .mkv extension. Like you would ever come across one in the wild, that is. LOL.

yes you can. Checkout the DivX Plus Web Player Beta. they should be releasing the final version soon, but it can stream .MKV

Use this code generator to give you the HTML code to embed.
