Ok, I finally did it. I bought the IASPI ReWrite application and installed it on my web server. Now, between the asp code and the rewrite filters, it now appears as if I have a static website. For example, if you visit: http://www.projectresponder.com/content.asp?cid=6&pid=43 The asp will search in the url string for for the page name then send a 301 with the new text url. The browser will then request the new text url and the rewrite filters will then send the original url to the server to be served up. It's very slick and I am greatly hoping that this will help improve the ranking in G. The two query string values had never been a problem previous to the 3Feb update. I have noticed that many pages that come in ahead of mine that don't have the kw/s in the title tags, or header tags, etc, do have the kw/s in the url. So we'll see what happens.
Please keep us updated. My host doesn't have it but they I may be able to get them to buck up for it. What was the cost?
It was $69. JD, thanks for the heads up. I'll get that fixed right now. edit: I fixed the link, thanks, and I also fixed my google like internal ads to show the new urls as well. This isapi rewrite is very cool.
Just to let everyone know, this thread IS ABOUT GOOGLE!!! I installed the rewrite filters only because of my lost rankings in Google. note to whomever moved this thread: Zieg Hiel
