I've just read to do a two page site, the first a sales letter, and second, a thank you page for joining the newsletter Or does it depend on your niche and what you are doing or selling? Like if I have an information product I'm selling, maybe a two page site would make sense. But if I'm promoting a weight loss product, maybe I need a site with a bunch of articles and content?
One to two page sales letters just tend to tick me off and they are usually hype. If I'm going to buy a product I want to know all there is to know about it, especially a weight loss product. I would say, build a site with lots of content talking about health, aeobic exercise, weight issues, fat content in food, etc. Give your customers something to read and always point them to yuor most wanted response. It depends on how you do the promotion. A two page site is perfectly fine if you purchase traffic to sell products. You need a lot more if you want to attract SE traffic though. Cheers.
i hate the sales letter websites. There are lots about though and so that must mean they are effective.
You always want the odds in your favor, and since most if not practically all visitors will not buy something without putting in a little bit of time in the site, put in more useful content and those articles. Even a few free tips along with your sales copy will work. Would, YOU, buy a product that is around $20 from a site with very little info?
The answer is to have a strong sales letter surrounded by great content. What I mean is that you draw and keep people on your site with good quality content pages - articles, blog postings, reviews, case studies, etc... and where relevant in your content pages you post links back to your sales pages. It's that simple...just like if you were having a conversation with someone on a topic and then you recommend or inform them of a leading product that helped you. Do you put your sales letter on another domain or do you put it as a sub-page within the content site - you can do either, but I favor having a separate domain for my sales page with content site on different domain and the two work in harmony. Jeff
I've done both in the past. It really depends on who your audience is. If you are trying to sell digital cameras, a content-rich site that gives in depth reviews is going to be the best bet. However, if you are attempting to sell a weight-loss plan, then creating hype is probably your better option.
