What people don't realize when they're spamming their website links to every directory they can find is that submitting to a good directory is a good thing, but submitting to a bad directory, or one that has a bad reputation with search engines for example is going to hurt them.
i agree with opinion about: good web directory and bad web directories. good are only few like dmoz and major ones, bad are all others. dmoz suffers from lack of editors thats, why no responses and no link addiotions
i became editor of section, i where i wanted to add the desired site url it took less time than wait for site approval (when they had no editor)..
Paid for a listing, or paid for suggesting? Suggesting IS free, so chances are if you paid someone to suggest your site, it would have been approved anyway so you wasted your hard earned money for something that would have taken you less then five minutes to do yourself (for free). Though, if you paid for a listing, heh, super! You are one of many that have realized that IS a possibility.
That's not even true, Google doesn't care about ANY directory, good or bad. There once was a time where a good list of links had worth, because Google wasn't the end all. Now, it's the end all. Google has perfected the search to such an extent that no human can keep up with its quality or speed. Even link pages maintained by small time webmasters have been abandoned, Google is better. Google is a beast and has no need for directories of any kind. For every link that is added in a human directory, there are 10,000 websites that are dropped, and 10,000 that are created anew. Only Googlebot can keep up with such a moving target.
