Well, is it? I'm not religious in any sense whatsoever. Both my parents were christened, but do not follow religion to an extent where they could be classified as 'religious'. Do you see religion as hope, faith, of well being - or do you see religion as the single biggest factor in your life? Again, I ain't religious - never have been, and for the best part of my future, never will be. In my own world, everything happens for a reason. Reasoning has sinister plans and we all have to deal with it. What's your thoughts - I just thought it'd be interesting to see how religious other members of DP are on religion.
Daniel Dennett made the case that most religious people don't really believe in god, They only believe in the belief of god. Meaning that, while they don't believe there is an invisible man in the sky watching them, listening to them and judging them, they believe that believing in such a thing makes them some how more righteous. I would agree with him on this point. In my experience when talking to people about religion all it takes is asking them "do you really believe that?" to find out the truth. Most "religious" people don't believe this crap anymore than i do, They just feel compelled to say they believe it because, after all, Faith is a virtue (though i believe it's a self serving delusion and a vice).
not really, when people say that its like they litterally think about god or jesus or there prophets 24/7. how about when people are masturbating or doing NATURAL things but are considered nasty in religoun. the phrase "its my way of life" is just something to further create a consensus
I really believe in GOD. My religion is not a hobby it's real. The prophesies in the Bible are real. My belief is a way of life.
I'm sure most people are like that as well, since having faith is the status quo. I think the only people who will answer way of life are the people who type GOD in all caps like he's actually reading digital point forums in "HIS" spare time.
