The EFF has discovered that your color laser printer is most likely spying on you. Well sort of. It seems most modern laser printers print a set of yellow dots, that is used to identify from which printer a page was printed. This was basically added to detect and help prosecute counterfeiters. Now the privacy advocates are up in arms. To me it doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but then again, I'm not that worried about my privacy (and I don't own a color laser printer ) You can check here if your printer is a spy.
Sleuths Crack Tracking Code Discovered in Color Printers It sounds like a conspiracy theory, but it isn't. The pages coming out of your color printer may contain hidden information that could be used to track you down if you ever cross the U.S. government. Source: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/18/AR2005101801663.html I don't belong to the US and hence I can't comment on this. What are your reactions, people? Dilip
It may be 3 months old, but it is new to me. I see the government abusing this technology. What stops someone else from tracking you?
