OK I failed to read your subsequent posts before my previous post. You beliefs seem a little closer to mine than I realize. I believe that many religions evolved very much the same way many things do. People seem to feel a presence of a higher power or conciousness an then feel in the blanks ( he things they don't know) with things that seem to make sense to them.
My point exactly.. The functional word here is as you put it..."assume" You are right you have the right to believe and to assume. But to know? Even if your belief is right you still did not know. You only believed correctly.
I said nothing of the sort; the article is aimed at the "gods" that people think they know or understand. My belief is that I simply can't know or understand at this phase in my existence and that it would be incredibly foolish and self-important of me to claim to know who or what "god" might be. Why else would anyone commit to a belief in a single deity is not for the sake of an organized religion? Seriously, I can't understand how someone could possibly come to that belief with no backing, no even a book of stories? I have a hard time understanding how people are sucked in by the Christian Bible and similar books, but I have an even harder time understanding why someone who put definite belief in a single deity with no actual reason to do so. There's no assumption: whether people are willing and able to admit it or not, Christianity and Islam are both absolutely false organizations that promote belief in and the worship of a finctional character to the detriment of that person and the entire world.
I came to the conclusion after about a month of hard thought.. Didnt read the bible, didnt go to church... But did ask a lot of serious questions that I thought would lead me to the answer.. No reason behind it except curiousity - which is pretty natural I guess. Just like the difference in language, I suppose everybody worships God in their own ways, according to tradition and upbringing and what not... And you know us humans, we always like a good reason to fight
That's it exactly! My problem with these religions would be far less if their believers were generally peaceful and accepting of others.
