Is Yahoo searching D.O.A?

Checking the stats on a few sites I am seeing more
and more visitors coming in via Ask.com then Yahoo.
Is anyone using Yahoo to search, I just dont understand
how Yahoo is ranked #2 or 3 in Alexa? I realize people in
the east (asia, india, etc) use Yahoo more than Google
for e-mail, but im sure hardly anyone is searching on Yahoo.

So basically the Yahoo business model is provide free email
and get to no.1/2 in alexa and charge advertisers as though
it's a search engine and justify people looking for info, with stats
of unique visitors, when in actuallity people go in to read/send e-mail?

    your thoughts?

I get most of my visitors from google and live / msn but I do not get many
visitors from yahoo. I think yahoo may be overrated.

yes i agree with you. no one from my whole list of friends are using yahoo and google is mostly used here in asia too...even gmail have become more popular than yahoo....
yahoo's alexa ranking is really surprising for me too....may be yahoo news gets lots of visitors...

    Thanks...

Yes, I see the same thing, Google is by far the biggest source, ASK seems to be showing up more and more. Yahoo and MSN are almost non existant. The new search assistant in Yahoo, shows way too much clutter when trying to give suggestions on a seach. It also seems that ASK shows consistent page ranks on most sites, whereas the others are all over the place, changing almost everyday-their servers never seem to catch up with each other. I doubt the validity of Alexa showing Yahoo as #1, don't know of anyone who gets huge traffic from Yahoo anymore.
