It seems that many more people use Adwords than use Yahoo PPC. It also seems Yahoo has almost as much if not more total web traffic than Google. So wouldn't the laws of supply and demand dictate that bidding is on average lower at Yahoo?
no.. you are wrong.. Yahoo traffic is 80% to email domain mail.yahoo.com not yahoo web search.. on web search the yahoo traffic is very low..
Last numbers I heard (for North America) were 52% or so Google, 27% or so Yahoo, 10% MSN, then all the other smaller players. I have a few clients who are paying a low as half the CPC they pay on Google, and for those tracking conversions, most have a lower CPA. the odd one or two are higher, but we're working on it!
I have two identical campaigns running on adwords and YSM. YSM cpc is cheaper by about 30-40% then adwords but the CTR is much lower for the same ad. Adwords is about 3% and YSM is about 0.6-1% I've only been using YSM for a week so I am still testing it out.
Yahoo should be cheaper, because it's less competitive. But the bad thing about Yahoo is, that the minimum CPC is $0.10
I hear lots of people say that Yahoo is cheaper and it does of course depend on the nich in question. I find their network totally terrible for my CPR and it's generally a bid headache trying to work with their nasty little interface. Even adcenter is now much easier to work with.
Adwords is more complicated PPC system, but if you master it, then it will be much better in ROI than Yahoo.
In most cases yahoo is cheaper than adwords howver if you know how to handle adwords you can make them pretty much equal in terms of bid prices. But in the beginning of new campaigns, yahoo is cheaper 99% of the time unless your doing some campaign where your paying .1 per click, which is yahoo the minimum is .10 cents.
Google---> more traffic, more rules, more competition Yahoo---> better traffic. less rules, less competition if you are new to ppc it is better to start with yahoo and learn the ropes before going to adwords
I have tried yahoo SM. It sucks. Traffic i was getting was very low. Also they removed my Ad saying that i am selling violent t-shirts. but its ok for ppl to advertise video nastys, violent games etc. Anyway i was getting 9 clicks to my site in one day even after my Ad was placed at the top. In google i got 34 clicks in 3 hrs but ppc means investing a lot of money.
It drains around £20 in 1 day. I am just running a small business so this is way to expensive for me but at the same time i want some purchases to my site. I am getting very low traffic. Each click costs £0.69.
But if adwords ppc cost is too high like 50 cents or 1 cents and going up , it becomes tough. Then maybe can switch to cheaper yahoo ppc.
You have to remember that although Yahoo's share of the market is alot smaller than Google's, people using Yahoo to search for stuff are not the same kind of people making searches on Google. It could well be so that people searching with Yahoo(grandparents, people in villages etc... ) are the kind of people that are interesting to attract for your product. /petpap
Yes it's cheaper and it usually converts better too. If you're not using yahoo, you're not utilizing a very good source of traffic.
I am right now thinking of trying PPC. I am confused which one to buy and this discussion I thought will give me some answer. But now I am more confused! I think I will go with adwords.
Yahoo is cheaper for me, but I get a lot more traffic from Google and I really have not used MSN enough.
I tried MSN, and I wouldn't recommend it at all. If Yahoo brings, less traffic than Adwords, I don't even want to think how much less traffic MSN brings.
well,i recommend yahoo,you can open a account with a free $100 voucher,it will be profit to you,only $30 spent,and $130 in your account,worth it
