I guess you need some information or guidelines from Google about this matter.
Try to search those questions in Google search for you to get many choices.

There are lots difference in ranking criteria about the two...Since Yahoo as of now is the 3rd and I think Bing is the second. But you must not ignore the power of Yahoo of you're ranking in yahoo maybe you can rank high in Google in times to come..:D

They are very different. Just look at them when searching the same keyword and you'll see that different links pop up!

Google and yahoo algorithms are totally different. My opiniom is that yahoo looks for onpage optimization more.

Yahoo ranking factors and algos are totally different to that of Google, I think Yahoo gives more wattage to Blogs links that i am saying on my personnel experience, Where as Google don't like guest post, I am on top of few keywords on Yahoo, but Google don't even look at them , on the other hand some keywords on which i write articles or forums signatures they are on top of Google but yahoo also consider them.

All independant search engines use slighly different algoritms, though the principles they are built around are similar. E.g - google, yahoo, and bing/msn all use different algorithms. However, sites like altavista, and yamour.com use the algorithms built by other companies. Altavista uses yahoo search, and yamour uses advanced google search

I think they use different methods. I'm a Google fan when I'm searching for keywords online. There are differences in the ranking methodology as it is visible when you compare their results for keywords you're searching. Not sure though how they do it. But I find searches in Google better than what I would get on Yahoo using the same keyword.

imo, if your on-page seo do well, your site could have a good rank on yahoo, not like google, need too many backlinks.
