Considering the recent losses of certain properties - like Yahoo Buzz, Geocities, and Delicious - by Yahoo, one marketer offers his perspective on the company's (possible) moribund outcome: Video: Reasons Why Yahoo Is, Seemingly, Dying
no they will still stay as long as Microsoft partners with them. infact they're courageous enough to sell properties like Geocities and Delicious because they know they still can stand.
Not really.... it's pretty much impossible for them to not make profit. But they are losing market share.
yahoo is still one of the most used seach engines in hong kong and i believe it will keep on for another 20 years
I think the Yahoo name will be around for awhile still.. especially in Asia.. what happens further on in the future is anyone's guess.
yes still yahoo has good number of searches we cannot live it ..it also has made some impact in internet world......
At present yahoo not use as search engine but it use as directory where we can find several of services.
I maybe past it's glory but I do believe Yahoo will be around even if their site is no longer primarily used for searching stuff.
In my opinion it is nothing compared to what it was say 3 to 4 years back, and moreover they seem to be closing down their popular services like Buzz, delicious and MyBlogLog etc. Maybe its the start of a downfall.
I created My first email ID years back in Yahoo. Now If even some one give me money for using Yahoo mail I wont go for it. The number of advertisements they do display is havoc. If we want to check any email urgently we would loose our patience. So I would support the point Yahoo mail is dying.
It has been on a slow death for quite sometime - especially now that Google just overtook them in their display ad business. To bad as I always loved Yahoo.
Yahoo has been on the decline for some years and its getting to the stage that i feel it has one more roll of the dice to either stop the decline and rebuild in a differant format or die, while it is in partnership with Microsoft it has a chance and the next 2 years will be crucial time duration.I have to say it has made some crazy business decisions in it time and sometimes i think it still likes siting on its laurel from the past but in cyberspace you have to adapt and Yahoo has not done so hence the decline.
Yahoo should have never partnered with Bing. I think that was a downturn for them. They had a decent thing going for them, decent money from what I've read. Then, all of a sudden they jump into the Bing deal. Now Yahoo is tanking. Their popularity is down, traffic is down, and a lot of sites and things they were affiliated with are dying or being sold off. I hate to see them go. Microsoft and Bing sure isn't the alternative I like to see. Hopefully they can beef things up and hang on for a while yet, but who knows time will tell I guess.
Eventhough im a Google fan, I don't believe that yahoo is dying since there wer lots of new features now with yahoo.
well yeah but still yahoo is a name in the history so i think it wont die that easy and allthough will never outcome the competition it will try to stick to its place in top.
Here is my $0.02... Every other lame search engines should/will die off, except bing (for making $) and google (for making $ and finding stuff). On the other hand, everyone should start using noscript and/or similar, to throw off their spyware.
