Hi, Well, the title says it all, Is the Yahoo directory worth the 300$? my site is indexed and have some good SERPs, but, I want it to be better.... What do you say? Thanks.
I haven't see any verifiable reports of a strong ranking improvement after being accepted in the last year, but I think it may help some. It all has to do with how you are converting, and the traffic level of the category on yahoo.
I've heard that you'll get a handful of hits from Yahoo each month plus a bump in the SERPs. However, $300 is pretty steep for a listing. Your money might be better spent on several lower priced directories in your niche or other general directories.
It's not if Yahoo Directory is worth $300 a year, but whether the submitted website is worth $300. For many webmasters and SEO pros promoting quality sites, $300 is a small portion of their marketing budget. For many smaller sites, getting a ROI for that $300 is out of the question. Think about what you will gain from a listing and how those gains will offset the listing fee. You may find submitting your marketing dollars at some smaller directories which still carry authoritative quality and value.
It is hard for anyone else to tell you if Yahoo directory is worth the cost or not. It depends on your business and your calculations of ROI. No one knows the business except yourself. Maybe you can do a rough calculations of ROI and decide for yourself if Yahoo is worth the cost.
Nowadays, how many people is still use Yahoo as a search engine? anyway you just waste the money on the dead pool.
I never saw any traffic from the Yahoo directory. Maybe it helped with rank, but I have no idea. I would not pay $300 a year for it. There are betters places to spend your money.
Hi, Thank you for your answers, I'm in the arcade games business, I know it doesn't give a direct boost of visitors, I only wonder how it effect the SERP... Can anyone tell if he saw any differences before/after submitting to Yahoo dir? Thanks.
Definately you must spend $300 a year for yahoo directory if you want to improve google rankings. Thats the way to beat competitors who dont have yahoo listing. There are no good directories which can really improve google ranking to great extent. But there are some other good directories which also helps like botw.org, business.com and mastbusiness.com
My site is listed in yahoo directory and business.com and I am at 2nd page of google and 1st page of google for few keywords. Google says "you must increase the number of high quality links to your website in order to improve google ranking.
it's fine if you have money to waste. $300 is quite enough to submitting to a few quality web directories, it's true.
Hi, Well, it is hard to say I have 300$ to waste. I have the money, I want to spend it wisely... Thanks.
I think it worth the 300$, especially if you monetize your website. It's the second most quality directory (after dmoz) and it gives links from regional directories too like Ireland India Australia and Canada (at least it used to). Back in 2005 I listed a website and kept it listed for 2 years, then canceled my subscription, but surprisingly I still have links pointing my website. Two days ago I registered a new one.
Those that I take advice from will tell you that any old link is just link and that the value lies in the length of time the link stays in place. An explanation that makes perfect sense to me. Would you rather have one link (no anchor text) in Yahoo for the next twelve months or sixty deep links all with different anchor text, that are still in place five years from now? There are no if's and but's. A link in Yahoo is not worth the money you are expected to pay no matter what site you are working on.
It may be worth it in the long run if it's going to give you the extra exposure to the people that DO use Yahoo exclusively
well i suggest you to not invest in yahoo ... if you have 2 hours in a day ...do directory submission forum posting social bookmarking by you self and try to make back links as much as you can
