My forum is one day old and I've heard that submitting your site to yahoo directory could take a long while until it get's approved/disapproved. So I might as well pay for the submission and gain some traffic off it. Is it worth it though? What's your experience with the directory? Let me know. regards, Kevin aka Luffy
I don't really think you should consider paying Yahoo to submit to their directory. You'll be able to find directories that are 100x better than the Yahoo directory and they're 100% FREEEE. Yes, FREEEE Yugo,
There's a sub-category for directories on DigitalPoint. You can find that here - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=25 Yugo,
Probably it could help, but the benefit it brings definitely do not justify the amount of money you spent on it since you are just using it to promote a forum, unless you are selling some hot products with good margin.
I would be very interested in seeing a list of respected free directories that are, as you say, "100X better" than the Yahoo directory. My guess is that it will be an extremely short list.
I was just using a little sarcasm, 'ya know? I'm not really saying any directory is better than the Yahoo! Directory but it's not really an investment a newbie should be really worrying about. Yugo,
I would definitely recommend submitting to their directory if you've got the money. In the end, it's always your choice.
getting a listing in Yahoo is definitely worth it if you're site is going to monetized and a long term project for you. There are very few directories worth the weight of Yahoo. It's also worth looking at best of the web ($99/hr). You're not looking at traffic from the listings (although you'll get some), you're looking at authority.
the funny part here is look at the similar threads below. this question has been asked and answered a million times!
The answer is that it depends on how much your advertising budget is. While $299 might sound like a lot to some, it is only $25 per month. You won't get much if any traffic from the link but it will help you with your search engine rankings. If your plan is to build up the traffic to your site from SEO than it might be worth it. Also, I don't think it really takes that long for you site to be reviewed. Most of the time it is around 7 business days or less.
I've tried yahoo before - and yes ive got traffic from it but just dont waste your money on yahoo try other free services.
