I have a client who has the money but I'm just not sure if there is any real benefit of having his site listed in Yahoo Directory. Does anyone have any solid info they'd like to share?
Would the yahoo listing pay for itself within the year? regarding knowing its worth, i dont think theres a way to know other than trying it. Could be great for one type of site and useless for another.
From talking to people who have listed in the Yahoo directory I've found they get 2 or 3 hits a month from the directory. They believe that it raised them in the SERPs. You might find your money better spent on several lower priced directories instead. If I were you I'd do some research on some of the other directories out there. Especially high quality general directories or directories in your client's niche. Here's a list of value directories that you can start with. Try to find directories that get hit by the search engines for terms in the page where your client will be listed. Those seem to give the most SERP benefit...and also some actual traffic.
I've paid for a listing and found that it gave me an initial boost in rankings on Yahoo but over time it didn't make a difference. If you want an initial boost I say go for it. Otherwise, don't waste the money - buy one way links instead.
- In my opinion, I would rather buy several One-Way Links to build a stronger "backlink foundation" (than buy one Yah** Directory Link).
Yes it works. Why are all the top websites there if it does not work???? It will surely help you with Yahoo! listings!
It depends on your budget and the site being submitted. You need to decide. Yahoo directory is an old site with a healthy amount of respect from the search engines. If you wander through there you will see a directory that is edited pretty well. For its size there are not a lot of spammy sites or broken links like dmoz has for example. In most cases for legitimate businesses it is probably one of the first directories to get listed in. So if your client has the money and a quality site it could only benefit them.
if it's in the budget i'd do it. the yahoo directory is an authority site and will surely help search engine page results; sends some traffic but not like it used to that's for sure (talking 5-10 years ago when the whole web was a lot smaller), gives decent link juice in many cases, & i assume it would also help within the yahoo directory itself. it's a big piece of change but if the client has the money, it's status too. on the other hand at $300 a year could buy into most of the pr 5 and pr 6 paid directories for just 2 years worth $600 or less.....that might be a better idea...
There's a lot of waste that goes on when it comes to marketing blue-chip companies with large budgets. So I wouldn't read anything into that.
It's certainly a quality link. One of the best ones you'll find. Just depends on what you're doing whether or not it's worth the money.
In my opinion Yahoo Directory is a good long term investment. I didnt notice any boost after website was included into it but it seems it can help in long run.
