Is Yahoo Directory Submission Important

I was wondering how important Yahoo Directory is to your overall SEO Strategy. I have been managing SEO for 6 sites now and I have been at for about 2 years. My customers, and I are very happy with the results we are getting and the traffic that is being generated.

That being said, I have never submitted any sites to the Yahoo directory. The main reason for this is the price tag. On the budget that I allow my self for each customer, every month a big $299 fee would eat a huge chunk of profit for that month, so I decided to see how we would fare without that submission. Like I said earlier, all has been going pretty good without it.

Now everything that read about SEO states that you should submit to DMOZ and Yahoo directory as step number one. Yet I have had success not submitting to Yahoo and never being accepted at DMOZ, so I ask:

Is Yahoo Directory Important or should I just leave it alone?

 

It is not important for Google but if you are optimizing for Yahoo search, then I've heard that Yahoo prefers to rank websites submitted to their directory.

As far as DMOZ is concerned, don't even bother to submit your site, they are not 'that active' anymore.

who cares for yahoo dir only, if their are thousands of other.. dont think its much necessary just a dir like others...

The Yahoo directory is important, yes! But 300 bucks is expensive and do you really want to have to pay for something that you can get for free in lots of other places. Just because you have a listing in a directory it doesnt mean that you will rank high within that directories search engine...... you still need a good website with quality content........ all of which will work well together.
