I guess it's like anything else. You'll get people that say it's great and others that have found no real benefit to it. Personally, I think it's worth the $300 if you have the money, and you have a good site, with lots of content.

It's absolutely ridiculous to spend $300 in 2010 for a web directory. Whoever recommends it needs to go back to SEO 101. I have one site listed in it, and I can't say that I see much benefit. I have non-YD websites ranking higher than it for even more competitive terms. The backlink is simply your site name, anyway, and you never get traffic from that directory since nobody uses directories anymore.
Yes it is good, but it is very expensive. Usually it used by big company. They have to much money to spend, so they spend it on yahoo.
I think Google still puts some value on that directory (unlike a lot of them) because I have seen sites with very few backlinks listed in the directory and it boosted their PR signficantly. Still though, I wouldn't pay that kind of money for it. I think your money is better spent elsewhere.
