It's kinda funny your all saying it is hard to rank in Yahoo. As of late I have been finding it far more easy to rank in Yahoo than even MSN (I find MSN fairly easy too). I have now ranked a site in yahoo for more than 50 seach terms over the past month. Yes, these terms are fairly competitive. I can't tell you my secret though, can't have any competitors get it.
You are bad Web Gazelle. If you cant tell us the secret then don't post about how you are doing so great in Yahoo. Trust me we don't feel any better hearing this. But congratulations dude. Good job for ranking on top in Yahoo.
I can't post a URL or any search terms because of competition. If I was to post the URL of the site and some of the search terms, competitors could be all over that and then I may not have the rankings I currently enjoy. PM me with your URL if you want a few tips. I will give you some insite when I have a few minutes later today or this weekend.
The new algo seems to like keywords in the URL. Other stuff too but for sure Keywords in the URL. Spammers are going to have a party.
You can add me to the "WTH is going on with yahoo" group. I had great rankings (top 10 for most keywords). about a month or so ago, my site disappeared completely from the serps. No idea why. Very frustrating. However, google and msn still like me so not all is lost.
at first i thought maybe my recips got decvalued but some site I just added a ton of recips to went up
Update on my yahoo problem if anyone is interested. I will try to make a long story short. I emailed yahoo regarding the fact that my site was no longer in their search. They replied with a form type email stating I violated one of their guidelines. After looking at the guidelines, I concluded that the only guideline I could have violated is 'excessive affiliate links for amount of content'. I had recently added a bunch of amazon affiliate text links on my site around the same time I was removed from yahoo search. I guess I added too many. Since the affiliate links weren't making me any money and barely any clicks (I don't think I have enough traffic yet to profit from them) I decided to remove them to see what would happen. At this point in time for my site, the traffic from yahoo will benefit me more than the affiliate links. Afterwards, I completed the re-review form with yahoo explaining what happened and what I did. A week after I sent the form, my site is now once again coming up in the search just as it was before. Top 10 for all keywords. I can happiliy say now I am ranking well in all se's. Conclusion: Yahoo doesn't care for too many affiliate links. Maybe this will help someone else.
You can't rely on just keywords in your URL. Placement in several other places on the webpage will also affect rankings... Dear.
What's weird is almost immediately after starting an SEO campaign on a site at the beginning of August, it dropped out of both Yahoo and MSN search after being first page for its keywords before August. I have a site that underwent SEO starting in February and it's still very high for it's keywords - no droppage. Hmmm... something is going on. The one that dropped out has zero advertisments or affiliates.
What does adding anti to the front of any word mean? Anti-terrorism, anti-depressant, anti-inflamatory, anti-social.. Do I need to continue?
