Is Writing Articles and Submitting to Top Article Directories Still Have Value

Article building is dead. Panda ended the days of article writing. I knew people who had their entire backlink structure based on articles, I've watched them drop from PR6 to PR0 overnight. A good example of why you need link diversity as well. Articles are not useless, but severly penalized. They have little weight, less than a PR0 page.

 

It's more accurate to say that article directories have been weakened as a convenient way to create high ranking, relevant anchored backlinks for your site. But the weight of a relevant backlink still exists, you just have to go elsewhere to get it in full force--like getting to do a guest posting on a relevant blog, an online press release, or other "organic" looking source page that ranks well, while linking to your site. The Panda changes just amount to demoting directories by regarding them as an artificial source or authority for building the rank of sites they link to.
