Is Wordpress really SEO friendly? In terms of visual skins you can make any CMS look like another but it's what is underneath that counts. When I "view source" on different WP sites I always see 1 and 1/2 screens of markup before I even get to content. I like to get content as far up the page as possible. I have used Textpattern and can get content in the top half of the first screen and get a better content/markup ratio overall. The only SEO advantage I can see in WP is that it has a bigger community and if you post in their "Strut your stuff" forum you will get more publicity and links to your site. I may stay with Textpattern on my next site but am wondering if there are SEO advantages to being part of the larger WP community or if the extra markup really counteracts and affects SE rankings.
It must depend on the theme... I have a couple of WP blogs that I put up in the last few weeks and their html is structured nicely for seo.
It must be the themes used. Some I have seen and used in the past were terrible for seo. I checked several themes hunting for those that said "seo friendly" and found a few. That may help you with wordpress to do the same.
wordpress uses CSS templates so the markup for wordpress templates compaired to a lot of cms templates ive seen is a lot less.
With some hacking, any theme can be made SEF. Actually, first thing I'd fix the URLs (so that they are like http://blog.tld/post-name/) and use post title as h1 and a couple of other things. I've done this on my blog, it really doesn't take much time.
To rank well in Google and other SE, you have to get a SEO optimized theme like Ad Flex. Ad Flex that is a SEO Optimized and Adsense Wordpress theme (http://www.vklabs.com/wordpress/) you'll have more chances to be #1 in Google. There're some proofs on their web site. Ad Flex is also Adsense friendly and come with a lot of customization parameters. Best of all, it's free Hope it helps.
