Wordpress is great for websites especially given it's powerful SEO characteristics. It is always a good idea to further develop the SEO potential of every site but with WP if you choose not to that won't be a problem.

I just change the permalink structure to %postname% and leave the rest alone. Google does the rest. I started a new blog a few days ago and Google has already started sending me traffic, so why worry with other SEO techniques.

Wordpress is certainly a great CMS and can be easily configured for a very good onpage SEO, but onpage is just a small fraction of the whole thing, link building is BY FAR more important...so don't expect any real ranking improvements only because you use wordpress.

Connect a slice of bread to the internet, throw thousands of links at it and it will rank. That's how google works...unfortunately.

Hi I just started an experiment with these two blogs. So far wordpress the wordpress blog is getting better rankings in more categories. Also wordpress has a pretty good built in stats program which I had to install on blogger.

Blogger on the other hand has options for adsense which are not possible in the free version of wordpress.

I am using the free versions btw.

    Yea it's pretty friendly,
Having a sitemap plugin and pretty permalinks is enough to have those horny Google spiders lusting over any site :D

It is also fair to say that your content should be written with SEO in mind. Think of what keywords you would like to highlight before even writing the article. Then use them in the article, in the title and in the images.

Such as what exactly? Lots and lots of backlinks from relevant sites - such as sites in your niche, etc.

Absolutely! Some plugs such as "all in one SEO pack" are specially designed to make the site more seo friendly.
