You will definitely have to work on seo, but WP makes it a lot easier. Depending on what keywords you want to rank for, you will still need to utilize what knowledge you have in terms of creating tags and relevant, unique content.

It is very good but you always need to do more. The popular sites do not sit back, they are aggressively doing SEO and trying to build traffic. You always have to tweak and work to get the best results.

Another important modification to make to your wordpress settings is the URL that is generated for each blog post. The default setting that makes the post part of the URL a number is junk, make sure you change it to include the title of the post.

Wordpress is excellent, but you need to find plugins or do the php coding yourself to make it very good for seo (ie; unique titles, descriptions, metas for each post).

Wordpress does a good job. I added a meta tag plug in and am very happy with the SEO results. The most important thing for a good SERP is content and fresh content.

WP is the best I have seen so far in making it easier to rank and SEO. I am a huge Joomla fan and I can safely WP rocks in that area over joomla.
