I have absolutely no experience in hosting--the most I've ever done as far as websites go is set up a Blogger account. The more I read about WP though the more I want to try it out. Unfortunately the only way to try it out is to drop $50 (I haven't looked around, but from what I've seen they advertise $6/$7 a month then tack on an absurd amount in hidden fees) on a server. Should I decide to go for it do you think I'll be completely lost and $50 in the hole?

WP is so easy, You can install a whole site in less than an hour. There are also cheap hosting sites that has tools to install Wp with just a few clicks. Also changing themes to update your site can be done in a few hours instead of days like a regular site.
Free of cost, no hassle installation, absolutely customizable... how can it be more easier to decide about which platform to choose? Wordpress.... Alllllllllllllll the wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!
I have no knowledge about PHP and thus found it difficult in the beginning but then after a point no custmization was needed. So everything got fine tuned The first few days may be of some trouble...... PM me if you need help
It is easy to install, it is easy to upgrade, it is easy to use and there are tons of free themes for you. So much so that I used it as a CMS rather than Blog as it really serves its purpose and more.
Wordpress is easily installed and configured. Plus all those plugins and themes to beautify your website.
Do your hosting have Fantastico or Installatron? It would be a click to install WP with these installers around. If not you may want to read http://codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPress#Installation Basically fool proof.
Wordpress is very easy to use. If you don't want to spend any money on hosting at the beginning, you can use wordpress.com and check out its basic functions first.
www[dot]sblog[dot]se thats another good free blog script, its much simpler than wordpress. however i would reccomend wordpress, its the best

WordPress is the best blogging CMS for now... I use it on all my websites/blogs... If you think out of the box, you can make it just not a blog, if you understand what I mean... And if you really don't want to spend money... You can have a self hosted wordpress for free too... $0.00 cost. Just your effort is the cost. PM me...
