I worked for Microsoft for a while in the 90’s and remember the release of windows 98. It was so superior to Windows 95. Remember the famous crash on TV when Bill Gates was showing off windows 98 to the public? That was so funny. Every time Microsoft releases a new version of and operating system it takes years after the release to get the bugs worked out. Not to mention the driver problems. It seams as though this whole new operating system drives the computer world to drop what hey have and run out and purchase a new operating system, then a new motherboard and don’t forget about ram and anew video card to keep up. Systems based on the NT kernel are always the most stable but lack in the area of gaming performance. That’s what was so great about Windows XP it merged the NT kernel into a common architecture for the home user.
NT bases systems are always the most stable. Vista seams like the decline of OS’s in general (Maybe). I guess it will be great to have 4 Gigs ram and a 4 or 5 Gigahertz processor instead of my 3.2 GHZ processor and a gig of Muskin Ram but that’s another day and too much cash for me right now. If you have never tried Windows 2003 server it’s a stable OS for Webmasters and very security conscious. Even Windows 2000 provides a great platform for webmasters.

Vista has a lot of stuff.
It also has an extensive help section with videos on some help topics.
It's easy to turn that annoying UAC off.
Windows Updates really help Vista run better as well as getting the lastest Vista hardware drivers.

Stability wise Vista is better as XP gets spywares and viruses v. quickly. Windows 7 is just a well arranged vista or recompiled vista.

Yes needs a lot of Disk space.
I am currently using Windows XP and it works well to me also.
I have no deep reason to
change my OS unless i would experience something in trouble then that would be the time for me to go for another.

vista will not support many applications. The GUI is great in the case of vista... I hope windows 7 can balance it..

I think Vista is better for my System (Laptops - cpu: Duo core 2 GHz, ram: 3 GB). I have tried both WinXP and Vista for about a month with fresh installation. I'm sure that Vista(with SP1 and SP2) is better than XP(SP3). The XP is fast when execute a few programs but when install more programs and run it as foreground and background processes, the system will occasionally lag and slow down that is annoyed. For Vista, I tested it for a month and install programs much more than XP, have more foreground and background processes than XP but it's less slow down occured. I concluded that Vista may suitable for few programs and few memory systems but Vista is better when have more memory and more application to run. I switched to use Vista, bye bye XP.

Windows XP is better than Windows Vista. However, Windows XP is not better than Windows 7.

Windows 7 is the king of desktop operating systems (sorry all you Apple heads out there)

    Here's my system...

    -AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0Ghz 64-bit (Quad Core) + 4GB of RAM
    -Windows 7 RC 64 Bit
-Firefox Minefield 64 Bit, Photoshop CS4 64 Bit

This is a bit in your face but...here's 2 words...F#cken Fast
