Is Windows Vista better than Windows XP???

as for me, i'll stick around with XP and wait vista to mature for another a couple of years.

I want to say that windows xp is better than windows vista.

 

still i prefer windows xp compare to windows vista.

 

I think windows XP is better than Vista.

 

Looking at the rate at which M$ releases new OS I don't think that u'll be swtichin to Vista, mate It'll be like Win 10 or 11 LOL. That's their new strategy - release new OS for ever 1-2 years, make small changes, make HUGE buzz around them and boom - shareholders are happy with financial results, dumb customers also, because they paid 300$ for something that should be released 4 free as a Service Pack...

 

i use both, and windows xp is better, it runs faster and smoother. Vista has too much garabge running inthe background, while you can disable alot of these things, it still would not run as smooth, vista requires much more ram to operate compared to XP. Not only that but for us 64bit users, running older applications becomes a problem

 

I love XP. I'm going to hold on to it until the bitter end.

 

Vista eats up resources. The more time I use Vista it grows in size and after a month or so its directory size has grown upto 10GB. Well I have 2GB ram but its too less, Task Manager always show 50-70% ram being eaten. The rest is for applications.

But Windows 7 is still going to need a lot of resources since its vista inside just given a makeover.

This does seem very reminiscent of the Win 2000 vs XP debate a few years back. For work I use XP because we don't need the advanced resources that Vista puts out there (and why would you when 512MB RAM runs all the business apps).

My friends were my first guinea pigs for Vista, and you know, they were able to figure it out and do more with this OS than on any previously (going back to Windows 95), and the best part is that I wasn't on the phone for hours walking them through things. The fact that Vista seems to be that intuitive for average people says something, in my opinion. I held out longer for my laptop at home, but finally took the plunge with Vista Home Premium and the first thing I noticed was that Vista seamlessly networked with my Ubuntu box without any poking and prodding. I've NEVER had a Windows networking experience work so well. Then, of course, there's the fact that my scanner now only works with the Ubuntu box since there aren't Vista drivers for it, but that's not really MS's fault (Canon, on the other hand....come on).

I think that the one thing I wish Vista could do is create a shell to run drivers for XP if there aren't any Vista drivers available. If I could run my scanner in "XP mode" that would be great (and cut down on all the "I don't have any drivers!" complaints, I should think).

My computer just installed SP1 last night, so now we'll see how things go. It does seem RAM usage is down slightly, but I just need more time to run it through its paces. All in all, Vista seems fairly solid, at least for home use.

 

many times I've got headache when installing few programs or even change setting on vista while in xp I never met any problem,so I would vote for xp

 

Windows Vista is very "pretty" and has many features like Apples osX. You will need alot of memory to run Vista well though. I like it better.

 

I'm using Vista since it was already installed on laptop I bought and I'm satisfied with it.

 

I think Windows 7 is the combination of windows XP and Vista and I am still waiting it to release and install it immediately!

Yeah, IMO Xp is the best than vista lot of softwares is not working with VIsta.

Windows Vista is extremely slow on my laptop and I have 4GB RAM. It's ridiculous

 

ive got vista ultimate, pritty slow but if u disable the side bar it runs a bit faster. i'm waiting for win 7. should be good
