I had vista on my machine for about a week then switched back to xp... it's so much more stable and both OSs are pretty much the same thing except for a few obvious visual effects (unless you're really into technicals).

I personally recommend sticking with XP and I think many others would too.

I would hold off upgrading until Microsoft releases the service packs for Vista.

I have vista but it is clunky. But it beats my old xp machine which hardly ever turned on (and that's another story)

If you are planing to get vista, then put at least 2gb ram in your computer.1gb would be least you can do.Any way xp sp3 should be launched in august 2008.One more thing the security in vista is extremely tight,it would not allow any one to be the administrator of the computer, every time u want to run a new application u have to launch it by clicking on run as administrator.

I will wait for sp2. Just wondering if XP software releases will still be available once Vista sp2 arrives.

I would suggest you stay with XP at the moment, Vista is a little slow and there is not much of a difference between Vista or XP except that Vista is prettier. :)

I prefer Vista over XP if you have a higher end machine. 2GB Of ram works flawless with vista / gaming.
