Is utube a copyright infringement

I was wondering if utube is a copyright infringement for YouTube

If you are selling floatation devices for water sports, then you would be ok. If you plan on making it a video site, I would consider another domain name. Always consult an attorney if in doubt.

 

Completely agree with what Snowbird has said, you are in clear as long as you aren't planning to run a similar site.

 

didnt the owners of utube.com sue or try to sue youtube?

and yes utube is also copyrighted

registering utube.org or something like that and putting a videosite on it can get you into trouble with both utube.com and youtube.com ..

If it is a video site than it would clearly be trademark, no copyright infringement. Just trying to clarify the words you are using.

 

UTube is a pipe/tubing company that was around long before YouTube, so no.

 

I guess the issue here is trademark infringment. However, a pipe/tubing company will not be easily confused with a video site, therefore, no, there is no infringment here.

 

utube is not a copyright infringement, utube.com was there long before youtube.com came out. and utube.com has to do with pipes not videos

Don't forget if the domain name sounds the same as a registered trademark holders name, that also can infringe on a trademark.

Domains are snatched up all the time by trademark holders that claim the offending domain sounds "confusingly similar" to their trademark(s).

thanks for all the info. From what I see I am not going to register something like that because I was planning to use it as a video site
