Hello, I had a question on keyword domain rich names. My current site is a branded name and after not seeing me in the top searches for my keywords, I thought I would seek some keywords in my market that I would be able to compete for. I have a list of keywords that I feel are pretty good. My question is, should I look to create articles around those keywords or buy the domains and then put some content on there and just link it back to my site and use my PR to leverage that? I have a PR 4 on my site currently. There are some keyword domains that I can snatch up right now that look to be really good with the .co in them. However, I don't want to spend the time and money on domains if I could just create content of my money site. Thanks.
PR4 is not bad, even though PR is no longer what it was. However, how DID you get this PR? If you have incoming links, what anchor text did they use? Because those ARE the keywords for which you currently score, though probably not the ones for which you would like to score. Perhaps your marketing approach was flawed from the beginning. Now, if you want to score for new keywords, it depends. If they are related to your current site, investigate why your competitors are better positioned than you are, and fix that. It might be incoming links, on-page SEO, better PR... but find out. If you do not analyze why your competitors are doing better like you, you will never rank #1. Once you have that fixed, add content to your site and try to leverage your position. Regarding keyword domains, it's a good idea, but here you actually have also two options: create some content from those sites and link to you site to enhance your global score (as a complement to the previous step) OR create those sites with decent content and link to them FROM your site so as to provide those sites with some relevant PR4 links. Personally, I'd go for the competitor analysis, and then use the first option. You want juice coming in, not going out...
Hello, A good idea could be use a keyword rich domain, and sell your product or company and redirect it to your brand domain name Best regards, Jakomo
Thanks for the input, In the start I didn't have a marketing plan or an understanding of SEO. I have a lot of videos and content on my site, but surely it is not optimized. The keywords I targeted in the start seem to not be the ones I should have been looking to target for. I read about owning a keyword rich domain will create an edge over the competition since articles can be recreated. So my thought for quick boast in traffic was to create a WP site and create 3 articles for that site and push it back to my money site.
Hi, 1. I would like to mention that a nice keywords tool like Google adwords keyword tool or keyword elite would be necessary for keywords researching purpose. 2. Having targeted keywords in your domain name would be helpful for ranking purpose. 3. PR is only a ranking factor among other 200 factors for SERP purpose. Of course, back links from your old PR 4 site would be really helpful for indexing purpose of new pages. all the best,
