Is Using Capitals For Each Word In An Ad Effective?

    Hi everyone,

Haven't been doing ppc for too long. It's only been a few short months, but have been spending lots of time and money on it for my company. I've learned a few things here and there already, but much more to learn.

The title itself pretty much is self explanatory. In GoogleAdwords, if I use caps for the first letter of every word for the whole text, is that more effective or less effective? Better yet, is it against GoogleAdwords' conditions? I've seen a bunch of other ads like that and I wanted to test it out. Currently I have 6 different ad variations for that campaign and wanted to see what kind of CTR I get from them.

Thanks for all the answers and responses ahead of time.

Google do recommend it themselves -

    http://adwords.google.com/support/b...&query=capitalisation&topic=&type=f& onclick=
at the end of the analyses of the example ad it says "Capitalisation: The first letter of every word in the ad texts and Display URLs are capitalised to make the ads more noticeable"

I think if everyone else is doing it an ad can look a bit 'subdued' if it's the only one that's not.
But the only way to know how it works for you is to split-test.

Ah I see. Thanks for the link. I guess if Google does it themselves... then it must mean it's a good thing. When I look at the sponsors on Google and you compare the ones that do do it, and the ones that don't do it... your eyes seem to look at the ones that have the caps more I find.

I think it draws my attention and I tend to notice it more... just my opinion though. Thanks for the reply.

Cool, thanks for the reply Robert. I have all my ads running like that right now, will have to wait and see how it does the next few days.

Here's another tip: Make sure the display domain also uses capitalization (DogTraining.com and not dogtraining.com), and use the www. prefix as it results in higher CTR.

Do one ad all with capitals, do the other without, see which one works best for you.

Definitely it will work. When you capitalize the first letter of each word it gives the user a more professional look and i am sure your CTR will raise little bit. You can test it on some campaign and if it works for you, you can perhaps make this done in all campaigns...

    Cheers...
