Can somebody answer, if creating a site around user generated content can be profitable in terms of adsense? I am looking to create a site, just like hub pages with some tweaks. How profitable do you think that site would be?
It is anyway becoming popular these days provided you can face the competition. It may not take much to create such site but marketing the site and beating the competition will definitely take the whole out of you. Set a complete plan and strategy before you shoot. Good luck

I think every thing depends upon the writer, the way he writes, quality of his writing, use of keywords etc. Ok you talked about strategies- What strategies to use for marketing such websites. Wouldn't this be enough: 1) Social Bookmarking 2) Email a Link Option 3) RSS Feeds 4) Submitting to Article Directories on behalf of users, etc
Social networking will work far better than social bookmarking. You need to spread the word. Don't confine yourself to just few marketing stratagies rather try every possible because you should not miss the single targeted audience (at least you should try) I just joined BetterNetworker few days back and I got to know many things that I never knew; be it marketing, socialaization or even motivation. It can be very profitable with adsense - if you can get people to submit content. Its all about getting unique content and getting that content indexed into google. When google starts to know you better, your PR will rise, when your PR rises, you move up in SERPs, etc. If you are confident that you can get plenty of unique content and drive traffic to it, then you can make a good profit.
