is updating and republishing blog post can increase my ranking??

    currently my site is in 5th position in google serp.

    is updating and republishing blog post can increase my ranking??

    Sure It will improve your ranking.

    For example you can take Brian Deans Google ranking 200 factors

    Whenever he updates his factors you can see ranking improvements in the google. Most the High Domain Authority sites like moz, sej, sew, quicksprout, sel are doing the same things because google and visitors lalways like the updated content

    It is not recommended for a new site - but for an old established site, it may help a bit!

    Yes, it's a useful idea. However, I would make sure you are adding value to the republished content. The example above is a good one, because it shows the continued attention towards what you've already created. Also, I would consider for some posts updating the post with the new content, then writing a new blog post pointing to the old post and the information you've added to it, explaining why you have done so and using a more personal angle to explain that.

    Not always but if you update with fresh and valuable contents, then it may help in increasing your rankings.
