I am marketing a few local (brick and mortar) businesses. I found this article - http://www.emarketingmatador.com/step-2-local-search-directories I understand the benefits of listing a company in local directories, but am curious to know if UBL.org is everything they say it is. By listing clients companies with that service, can I avoid the 11 hours of work they claim it will take to do each one individually? Many thanks!
Personally, I find that relying on other people or companies to do your submission for you is usually not as good as doing it yourself. However, I can't say whether that's true for ubl.org. Good luck!
This is Chris from UBL. Submitting listings yourself only gets you to a limited number of places that allow it and it can take dozens of hours each year, only to find the data gets overwritten by the main databases that the search sites use. Remember Google is much less dominant in location-based search (yellow pages, directories like Yelp and CitySearch, mobile sites, maps & social nets are growing.) This is why we started UBL. We have provisioning agreements with infoUSA, Acxiom, Dun & Bradstreet and others that provide the anchor data not just to sites like Google but also to social networks, 411 Directory assistance, GPS navigation devices and 350 total places. We work with over 250 of the top search agencies who rely on our service. BUT seowebexpert makes a good point if it relates to claiming listings on some of the key sites like Google. This is a best practice as it relates to some key sites (we also have a claiming service for that in our premium products). The economics are very simple - hope you come try us and see our premium products too! thanks
