how good is twitter for promoting websites? I am using twitter for the first time and i am just wondering about it. Anybody had success so far! My twitter profile: http://twitter.com/olddocks
If you have things to tweet and there is a community of there then it is very good. I use it for a clothes site and i find that it works very well as there is always developments and I have built up lots of followers. If you work in a very niche market and it is fairly slow moving then I wouldn't bother.
My mind is still not made up on tweeter Various reputable authorities , who i respect , make comments such as "if you are not aware of twitter you soon will be" Yet it seems like a not of noise A lot of discipline must be employed not to get carried away with minutiae Still people are making points that if they have a question often they can get a better more relevant answer from people in their group right away as opposed to going to Google or another search engine Time will tell I guess
yes it works...you have to identify your niche and target them as followers to get started...i have a whole slew of twitter information articles listed in my sig. feel free to add me on twitter as well!
So the bottom line is that it can work if you shamelessly get plugged into every relevant network where your content would be of interest and appreciated. The key is mutually beneficial partnerships that give the WIN?WIN outcomes you desire. You can also combine Twitter with other social media, such as a blog, if the shorter Twitter format does not suit your style. Best of luck TS
Twitter is an excellent tool that you can use for marketing if you have lots of faithful followers who check the links that you posted in your tweet.
Yes, Twitter is great.. if you are worth following and have quality information or whatever you are pushing. The key to Twitter is not trying to use it to make money, honestly. I.E. Don't just follow people just so they will follow you back, you are wasting your time. If you find that you are having trouble getting followers then maybe you should address why this is first. If nobody pays attention to you anywhere else on the web, then why should they suddenly pay attention to you on Twitter? Note, I'm saying this in general... it's not directed specifically at you A lot of people have the wrong ideas about how to use Twitter though, and they're wasting their time....
if your tweets are useful and good " not spammy " you will gain much followers , this will be good in promoton .
Ashton Kutcher just got one million followers (actually, just got over that number), defeating CNN who has somewhere around 998,000. So no matter what you say, I am sure that a million possible eyes on the tweeted links would be great. Yet again, Ashton Kutcher is just one guy...
Thanks for the tips everyone. I've been looking for ways to generate more traffic to my site and twitter is one of the things I'm going to start when I get around to it. Now I have some tips to hopefully keep me from wasting time when I get going. If you or anyone else is interested in another source of free traffic you should try http://www.FreeViral.com/?r=274716 (I'm new on here and can't post live links yet). This site is basically like mlm but for advertising. You sign up for free, enter your ad text and url. Then your ad goes to the top of a list of 6. When someone signs up under you using your link, theirs goes to the top and you move down to #2 and so on until you get bumped off after 6 levels. Each individual you sign up is another stream of 6 levels so it grows exponentially. It isn't targeted traffic so it won't be as good as paid advertising but more visitors translates to more customers. And if you're selling ads on your site it'll work great because advertisers mostly pay attention to number of hits. An added bonus is that you get more links out there to your site which can really help in search engine rating so you get closer to the top in the organic results. If you want more hints, I have an advertising tips page on my website at www.jjblifepath.com where I describe several methods of low and no-cost advertising. I update it pretty regularly and I'm about to add a free 5-day newsletter about advertising so check back regularly. I hope you find it helpful. Good Luck!
Twitter is one of the best ways to promote your website. But just if you know how to use it and how to get your followers.
Twitter is like any other marketing material - if used correctly and honestly it can be quite effective. Don't abuse it and don't use it purely for promotion and you'll see much better results. Trial run it and if it seems like you're using it in a desperate attempt to get visitors, abandon it.
I am learning too about Twitter, seems pretty nice! There seem to be a good 'mix' we can do with other major social networking sites!
Like pretty much everything you do Online, it's all about building relationships and providing quality content... the ones that "get" this are very successful not only on Twitter but on any platform!!! Cheers, Pete
