Ask yourself the purpose of being certified. Basically it's for those wanting to offer their services as an Adwords manager. Note that you don't NEED to be certified to provide these services, unlike say a doctor. It could help however get the jobs by saying you are certified and impress a potential client that way. But like anything else, a diploma doesn't mean you're good at it. In this case, it means you should know your way around Adwords and their rules, not that you will get QS of 10 every time. Although, the test surely has changed a lot since I last took it.

So if having the certification will help getting jobs, then it's worthwhile. If you do Adwords just for yourself, it won't be as much although I suggest you still become familiar with the rules.

Saturated? You mean too many with the certification? There is no such thing.

I would personally say that it is not worth it unless you just really want to be able to put a certification behind your name. I assume you are wanting to sell your services to potential clients? I would personally be far more impressed by someone who could show me hard performance statistics rather than a certification. Most certifications can be obtained by people who have absolutely no practical experience, but results are far harder to fake. Show them the results.

I was already doing PPC consulting professionally when that came out and I thought it was a joke, but sometimes I think about it just in case SOMEONE is impressed by it.

I would only get it so customers can be impressed by it. I wouldn't do it for the knowledge (not at all).

It depends on how you position yourself. If you are doing personal sales and are good enough at it, you don't need it either.

    Good answer here,

I would just add, Nowadays, in the U.K. at least, having a bit of paper, or some sort of official certificate, is the be all and end all of successful job applications, skill and experience account for zip, if you don't have that piece of paper you don't get the job, full stop, this is the currently mentality we are stuck with and it has permeated through to every workplace, no wonder we are in such a state.

So I would say go for it, even if, as has been suggested it is worthless, you are still able to present it as credentials, and that alone would get you a job in the UK over someone that had no certification even if they were the worlds leading authority.

Honestly, I wouldn't even try to look into hiring you if you posted that you are professionally certified. I would assume you charge $40 an hr.
