Is true love real? Is there really a 'one'? What do you think?

Ok recently I had my heartbroken by my first love. My first girlfriend. I still can not get her out of my head. It's horrible feeling.

Do you guys think there just one perfect person for each of us and that true love is real?

I used to think this way. Now I just beleive there is only a perfect person at a perfect time in our lives and the bond you share with them can be powerful and make you think it is love.

E.g. Someone who you loved may not be the right person 1 or 2 years down the road. Maybe you matured differently or maybe they did. Maybe circumstances and the enviroment around you stop your love from being possible. ie you need to enter a long distance relationship.

There are almost 7 billion people on this planet now. That could be 100-200 million people on earth who meet your criteria(e.g. a woman, between 20-30) and you could potentially develop a feeling of 'love' with.

True love can't be real...can it?

I honestly do believe in 'the one' 'true love' etc but be prepared for when you are not the 'one' of your 'one'
It leaves you broken, lost and destined to live in despair never able to move on.

I do believe in true love. Though I think we can "love" more than one person. Like colecting hearts throughout your lifetime. Just because it doesn't work out with someone, doesn't mean it wasn't love. You can love them and prolly will until you die, but you can love others.

How can you tell when it is true and when it is not?

Some of us are still searching for "the one", but frankly you should not, for if it is really your true love, Time and Fate as you know it will converge for the both of you.

Time and fate, circumstances and distance can also keep 'the one' away from you. 'the one' is as pure love as one can find, everything else is just forced love out of the need to want to have 'the one' even though you may have never found it.

I agree that the person you think is the One at a specific time may grow, change and so may you over the years to where they are no longer the One you thought they were. I think there are tons of possibilities when it comes to happy romantic pairings because if both parties are willing they can cultivate a relationship of "true love" Just my 2 cents :)

I believe everything in practical ways. There is no such true love, eternal love, one soul mate, etc.
It's just that you fall in love with someone, if he/she loves you too, then you both start sharing amazingly. Sure, he/she feels like the "best" and the "one" of all, but you would also feel the same if you have met other person instead of this one.
I love someone because I've met him in the right time and place. I could have experienced the same with other people, but I didn't have the "right time and place" with them. So it' coincident. I don't believe we only have one soul mate, but I believe the miracle that encourages two people to be together and keep loving each other.

I feel the same. That yeah yeah the feeling of love can be created between any 2 people and the connection you share with them does feel special BUT I love the idea of there being true love and a soul mate. I cannot explain it. It's almost like a burning passion and drive to find that 'one'. My mood levels are all over the place at the minute and lack of sleep etc.

So based on science and practicalities I don't believe there is true love but I love the idea of everyone having a soul mate. Make sense?

I still speak to the girl who broke my heart and I still feel very connected with her. Part of me believes she is the one but the other part of me is saying she would never of hurt you if she is the one. It's emotion vs logic. It makes you feel very alive!

Stevie i don't think your question will EVER get an answer. It depends on a zillion of factors.

If you watched the Dexter show recently you know that the main character (Dexter) has no "love" feelings. As many people on this Earth - as many visions about love... Me for instance, i am somehow like Dexter, i don't have strong "loving skills". I mean yes, i care about the ones near me but i don't have this loving emotion so strong like other people i know.

True "Love" (aka "an intense affective emotion/feeling") IS real, but the chance to find it is very small. You have to find a person that is fully compatible with you, BUT people change over time so you have to keep this compatibility over time despite the fact that you and/or your partner changes constantly during life. So, from my point of view, it's just a number's game. But, again, this is just me, a cold-hearted guy... others might think differently.

As for the second part of your question, i don't think there is only a "One". You can always find another girl. I know you think that the one you had was SOOO special and SOOO very ultra nice that you won't find anything like her on the entire globe. But nice girls are all over the place, you just need to get up, dust yourself off and stand tall - life is full of little battles like the one you just fought so be optimistic and get yourself the right mindset to fight the whole war with a smile on your face!

    Cheers bro,
    Ciprian

Love is real, love is not forever, love hurts, but there has always been something called true love, it is when a man loves beer, vodka, brandy, rum and similar drinks! I AM NOT DRUNKEN!

you can believe it, if you feel that girl have true love with you... cause this is coming from her heart that your heart can only understand instead of asking in discussion forums. FUUUUU you.

Yes difficult, rare, better chance of being hit by lightening. It however does happen. I never used to believe in it until it happened to me.
Problem again is finding it then losing it, there simply is no point, no way to 'move on' as your heart is stuck with someone who doesn't feel the same way for you.

In my opinion, true love is very true if the love is truly a lovely true love.
