    Is Traffic Everything?
[Extreme Example] Lets say you start a blog about knitting and you get 10,000 hits a week. But only 50 are interested in knitting then is this really good for the blog?

I'm starting a blog but Im looking for a specific person who works within in sport to use the website. I want influence these people and get specific companies to be involved.

I think that its misleading to target traffic numbers because they could leave, surely its best to target the right people who will continue using the site.

Targetting certain people is also easier than targetting the masses. I have been able to use the Internet to get the names and (work) email addresses of my target market.

Just write content surrounding your niche and those who are looking for your specific niche will find you. Unless you're buying traffic, I don't see how you could be getting 10,000 untargetted visitors a week.
