Is time running out for affiliate marketing?

I read blog posts and ebooks from time to time that state NOW is the time to get into affiliate marketing. NOW is our opportunity to make a living online, suggesting that this method of making money online will soon dry up. This may obviously be an attempt to get you to hurry and purchase an ebook, or get people signed up to a blog by convincing people that only "my blog" can help you achieve success online. It may also be stated by someone who generally believes that this market will one day become so saturated with people that it will be tough or next to impossible to make anything with affiliate marketing. Is this just a bunch of BS or do you think that NOW is the time to get in before it's too late:eek:?

People will only attempt to make money online until a better and more productive medium comes along, for now we've got the internet so while the internet exists I very much doubt it will "drt up".

Is "NOW" the best time to start? I'd say probably not if you plan on spending money to get started, I've found the current world economic situation has meant people are being much more careful with their cash and are less likely to take a chance.

I don't think this is totally true, I think the vast amount of affiliate marketers means finding a niche is obviously much harder but its defiantly not impossible to make money...

Google Adsense was suppose to affect affiliate marketing, but instead just made it stronger. I can't see where affiliate marketing will ever "dry" up.

It's a solid business model for merchants to get hundreds (or even thousands) of active sales agents to get their sites and products known and share the profit. As long as there are merchants there will be affiliates willing to promote their products and services online.

As long as we have the internet we will have affiliate marketing. Kids come out of school and become the next affiliate marketing generation and so the cycle repeats. It truly is a great model to make money with

When people say now is the time to start affiliate marketing, it doesn't insinuate that affiliate marketing is drying up. It is said to basically make you get off your butt and do something rather than what MOST people do which is learn about something and then do nothing with it.

well stated, I finally got off my butt and am trying this, still know luck, but I am working and working, hopefully soon I will see that all my work to my site will pay off. I sure hope affilliat marketing stays strong, since I had just started to get in it.

It's not all that hard. It's a matter of finding a good niche, building the site, and marketing to it. We have had good success in doing so and are always looking for new people in new niches.

I have an affiliate progam and I cannot imagine ever wanting to stop it. My affilites bring in good steady sales. I know they are happy and not planning on quitting.
So as long as my affiliates are happy and I'm happy I don't see why it would end.

That's certainly the non-pessimistic perspective and definitely a good point. I like to believe that there are those who generally do wish the new affiliate marketer success and generally want to help, but sometimes it's hard to believe that in a very competitive and often secretive game, there would be very much genuine well wishing going on. But there I go being a pessimist;)

it is my professional opinion to say that earnings from affiliate marketing are not what they use to be because of publisher saturation. However, if your online marketing savvy or just marketing savvy for that matter you can still make money with Affiliate Marketing. Affiliate Marketing will never dry up. As long as there are Merchants who will continue to market their products or services through Afffiliate Marketing, there will always be affiliates to promote those offers.

Affiliates are basically commission-only sales people. Sales people have been around for a long time and aren't going away anytime soon.

And affiliate marketing will only be saturated once the concept of "stores" and "selling goods" is saturated, which again, I don't see happening anytime soon. ;)

Of course, the earlier you start the earlier you can be rich :)

Internet Marketing is definitely not drying up. Internet Marketing is getting bigger and bigger as we speak.
Internet is getting more popular, every month there are tens of thousands of new internet users, potential customers. Internet Marketing is similar to a real bussiness, you will have competition, but will make earnings depending on how good you are and how much effort you'll out
