Is time a factor?

I've been fighting my way to the top 10 for a very competitive keyword on msn.

I managed to get to #9 after tons of articles, directories and miscellenious stuff.

Now, the question is how do I get to #1? If I get 50,000 new links tomorrow will I jump rank or is there a time factor?

Is getting from #9 > #1 harder than getting from unlisted to #9 for a 11 Million results / 400,000 searches/month overture term?

I would say yes but I don't have a theory on why.

I would hate to get 50,000 links at once. You might Googleb bomb yourself. I would just keep working at steady pace.

    Good luck.
