Is this wise?

    Hi Guys,

    Is this wise to have in my .htaccess file?

    ErrorDocument 404 http://www.leadingedgehosting.co.uk/index.php

    It just re-directs any page not found errors (404) to my homepage.

    I'm just worried that the SEs may prefer some kind of 404 error page, rather than the straight re-direct.

    if it's a permanent redirect then it makes no difference. However, a 404 page is prefered over a redirection, not for search engine purposes, but for the visitor.

    yeah it is permanent, and I don't really have many links coming into my site yet, so I don't think it will make much difference.
