Is this who I think it is?

One of my sites got out of the Google sandbox last week and traffic and Adsense revenue skyrocketed. I just checked my Analytics logs for this site (see pic) and one visitor caught my eye.

Is this who I think it is?

 

Someone from mountainview? (you mean Google?) it might have been just a bot?

 

mountainview is Google right ? But is it a bot ?

 

I guess it could be a bot but I was thinking someone came to review the site since I think they check sites from time to time to ensure they are compliant with Adsense and this one just started making about 30 times what it made previously.

That is also possible, especially when sites are reported to google. However, I'm pretty sure your site is safe

It seems hard to believe that Google would spend that much time on one site. Does your stats break down and show what bots visited your site.

I can not believe Google would take that much time for what they pay their people that would be quite costly to check out one site.

 

I thought it was the same thing when I got an IP address coming on a forum that I had not even released yet but after searching the IP address it was a google bot.

yeah it will say its a bot if you search the IP it will say 12.3434.323.googlebot or something such as that. But like nerve said above people live in mountain view too so it could just be a coincidence

I don't think a busy Google employee hung out at your site for 27 minutes, no offense. Either a bot, or someone from Mountain View (what?? it's possible).

 

Looks to me like somebody from upstairs checking you out...

 

I didn't even know what you was on about until I read about people saying it's Google. If it's google why not just using google.com unless they are trying to make people not know who they are.

 

because on one lives at google.com. people do live at Mountain View, California though.

Analytics shows Network Location: unknown for this visitor but it was indeed just a person from Mountain View since I have been able to track the keywords he used to come to my site. Sorry for the false alarm.

 

Is there some kind of re-indexing in process? Has anyone noticed it?
Or is it happening at the beginning of every month for archiving?
The last two days i have seen this in my stats and it is not bot. Bot is described as googlebot in the stats. This site has not adsense or adwords.

I seriously doubt a bot would be picked up by analytics. Why? Because none of the other bots show up in analytics logs, most bots don't trigger javascript code. People at google are no different than people at any other private or government firm...they spend time surfing the web
