On this page of mine there is an ad rotater. There is a 50% chance that it will take you to hub pages, and a 50% chance that Unlockr would pop up and say you have to take a survey to 'unlock' the content. I use firefox and a linux OS. when Unlockr came up, it also said that cookies must be enabled to unlock the content. The other day I was still using windows and it did not do this to me. Can anyone tell me if it does this to you as well? If you were any kind of visitor to my site (employer, someone curious, etc) would you be very turned off by this. Edit: Do you think this blog of mine looks overly promotional? I used this thread to ask this additional question because I wouldn't want to start too many threads about my own content.
I just followed the link and got hit by the Unlockr. It put me right off and I literally just closed the website. In my personal opinion, ads which pop up upon the opening of a website are acceptable as long as there is an option to say 'not interested' or simply hit a small 'x' in the corner which allows it to close. I think forcing visitors to do something to see your site will definitely put people off. Just my opinion on the matter but second time I clicked, it didn't appear and I went in with a much more positive idea about your site.
