    No, not true.

    This search shows it's 100% off-page.

    Very nice example :)

I agree that Google definitely puts a tremendous weight on off-page factors - I wouldn't go as far as tops30 and say 100%, but it is pretty close.

The relevance of site will be defined in time. Is posible your site to be present in first page in first 3 months but after it can lose positions. That is happening because the evaluaton of relevance depend by many factors. Anyway, in first months the search engines can be tricked, but in time the search engines will see that and... the site will take the right position.

Anyone that says it's 80/20, 90/10, 95/5, or any other definite # is just guessing. Yes it is VERY much in favor of off page favors, but there is no known set #. They use over 200 factors to determine your ranking.

You should try to focus on factors that are efficient and work. On or Off.

Good hint for you to worry about for this time period.

    1. Age of domain
    2. Alot of quality inbound links (.edu, .gov, PR7+, etc)
    3. Quality directory presence
    4. Basic SEO on page factors

I guess based on that i could pull a number out my ass and say it is 75% offpage and 25% on page.

The important thing to note it that right now it is offpage factors that gets you into the top consideration spots. The on page factors will help with the fine tuning.

At the same time it is good to note that being caught with dup content, cloaking, hidden text or links on your page will knock out all your good strengths. So first off make sure your note breaking and SE TOSs

If google give 80% weight only to offpage then onpage tricks like LSI will not work on google.Just it gives less weight to onpage then MSN or others.

I don't think its true. You can find many sites ranking well with few incoming links and good content. Offpage optimization is very important for ranking, but i don't think its 80%

Of page is very important for competitive keywords,,,,,

But for a less competitive search term, you can still rank well with on page stuffs taken care of…

I read somewhere it is 80% off page and 20% On page.

That is what it shows for me.
