I am moving from USA to c.o.uk servers, will this affect my rankings on google.com? I dont want them moved to .co.uk as that will mess me right up, and I read this http://www.webconfs.com/country-specific-search-engines-article-7.php Anyone help pls?
I was on a .com ip, im ranked really well on google.com for high traffic search terms, I am worried now I have moved to .co.uk this will mess things up
I dont see if moving a sever can make change but make sure your old server holds the site on changing the dns
If you are ranking really well, I wouldn't worry about it unless your site is super specific to the Brits. Even then, it's not going to make that much difference. I'd be highly surpised if you noticed a difference at all. Brandon
I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless you have content that is country-specific. Just find a new host that meets your needs, will be around for the long-haul and doesn't have typewriting monkeys composing Shakespeare for customer service and you'll be fine.
As long as you dont change your domain name nothing should change. As far as I know, the location of an allocated IP blocks does not affect your rankings in relation to your domain TLD (com or co.uk). If you do have to change your domain name, make sure you do a 301 redirect to the new domain.
There's no reason for you to worry about rankings as long as you'll just change your site's host and retain the old domain...But if the content is intended for a specific country, a little difference is possible to occur...
