Here is a thread on the subject with people who know what they are talking about: http://physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=237184
Yes, I have also heard about this news. The News Channel was India TV.. But I don't think that this is true..
well I dont believe this but if it happens then it will prove me to be right I have all way said that if the world is destroyed then it will be man to do it
this can`t happen. people can`t destroy the planet with a tiny experiment.., at least not yet, and not with this one. lol
I get so tired of trying to correct misinformation like this that I just have to start pointing people to the LHC rap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j50ZssEojtM So when LHC fires up on Wednesday they are going to shoot a single proton around clockwise, and then later this month they'll send a photon around counter-clockwise. It'll be at least another month before the first particle collision happens. Even when the collisions begin the chances of anything world ending happening are so slim as to be insignificant. There is a chance to see the Higgs-Boson particle, which will provide substantial data to help understand the workings of the universe.
The possibility of creating a black hole with the Large Hadron Collider is very minute, but it is a real possibility. The catch is that the black holes that the collider could create will be microscopic in size and will inevitably collapse in on themselves as quickly as they come into existence. The chances of the world ending here are non-existant.
